- E-Commerce and E-Business: Rising from the Ashes - Hill Associates e-bulletin, December 2002.
- Abstract: Welcome to the New New Economy! Gone are
the heady days of narrow niche startups
with names like pimentosrus.com, e-commerce
entrants giving away $50 of merchandise
just for visiting their website, and companies
ignoring fundamental business principles.
While the great bust at the start of the
millennium had many relegating e-commerce
to the dustbin of history, it has become
clear that these new electronic means of
conducting business not only are still with
us, they might actually be part of the U.S.
economy’s resilience. In this article, the
author examines what is happening with e-commerce/e-business
in the wake of the bubble burst, September
11, and the current economic climate. The
paper looks at who the major players are
today, how and where e-commerce is thriving,
and issues such as web patents and intellectual
property. It concludes with a look to the
trends heading into 2003.
